How long did your FieldPulse rollout take? What slowed you down?

We're about three months into our FieldPulse implementation, and while the team is starting to settle in, I keep thinking about how the timeline compared to what we originally planned. I'm curious about other teams' experiences—both to validate where we landed and to flag anything we might still be underestimating.

Our situation: 18 field technicians across two regions, moving from a mix of paper work orders and shared spreadsheets. We budgeted 6 weeks for full rollout. It took closer to 10, and I'd say we're still refining workflows that weren't fully baked in week 6.

The biggest slowdown for us wasn't the software itself—it was getting our existing customer data clean enough to import without creating a mess. We also underestimated how long it would take to train our longest-tenured techs, who had their own systems they were genuinely effective with.

What did your rollout timeline actually look like versus your plan? And what ended up being the thing that slowed you down most?

  • 6 weeks planned, 14 actual. The gap was almost entirely on our side—leadership couldn't agree on whether we were replacing our old system entirely or running parallel during transition. That indecision cost us three weeks of actual implementation time. Once we committed to full cutover with a hard date, things accelerated.

The technical setup took maybe 10 days. The organizational alignment took two months.

  • Another way to think about this is distinguishing between technical implementation and operational adoption. In my experience, the former is predictable; the latter is not. We now budget 3x the technical timeline for the change management component, regardless of the tool.

For FieldPulse specifically, our 24-technician rollout took 8 weeks technical, 12 weeks to reach steady-state operational fluency. The variable that mattered most was whether regional managers had prior experience with similar transitions.
