How long did your FieldPulse rollout take? What slowed you down?

We're about three months into our FieldPulse implementation, and while the team is starting to settle in, I keep thinking about how the timeline compared to what we originally planned. I'm curious about other teams' experiences—both to validate where we landed and to flag anything we might still be underestimating.

Our situation: 18 field technicians across two regions, moving from a mix of paper work orders and shared spreadsheets. We budgeted 6 weeks for full rollout. It took closer to 10, and I'd say we're still refining workflows that weren't fully baked in week 6.

The biggest slowdown for us wasn't the software itself—it was getting our existing customer data clean enough to import without creating a mess. We also underestimated how long it would take to train our longest-tenured techs, who had their own systems they were genuinely effective with.

What did your rollout timeline actually look like versus your plan? And what ended up being the thing that slowed you down most?

  • In my experience, the training materials are written by people who've never actually done a day in the field. We ignored most of them. Had our own tech lead record 5-minute videos of actual jobs being logged, and that moved things faster than any of the official walkthroughs.

Also: checklists. Everyone wants to build the perfect comprehensive checklist upfront. Don't. Start with 4-5 items, add one per week once you see what's actually happening. We spent two weeks arguing about whether "arrival time" should be a field before realizing we could just start and fix it later.

  • ^^^ this basically. we did the same thing with checklists, started with like 20 items and everyone just skipped the ones that didn't apply. trimmed it down to 8 and actually got better data. so what I did was just have my lead tech rebuild the template after week 2 based on what he was actually seeing guys fill out

also the official videos were fine but yeah having someone from your own team explain it in your own words helps way more
