How often do your techs update job status in real time vs. end of day?

So I've been doing this electrical work for about 12 years now, and I've used a bunch of different systems. FieldPulse is fine, but here's my question — how often are your guys actually updating job status in real time?

In my experience, the dispatchers want everything updated instantly, but when you're up on a ladder dealing with live wires, you're not pulling out your phone every five minutes. My crew tends to batch it — mark everything at the end of the day or during lunch breaks. Seems to work fine.

But I keep hearing from management that we're "not utilizing the real-time features." Is this actually a problem for anyone else, or just us?

  • so basically what i do is i try to update when i remember but honestly some days im running three calls back to back in 100 degree heat and the phone stays in the van until im done

we did this thing where my dispatcher texts me if something urgent comes up and that works better than me checking the app every 10 minutes

idk if thats the right way but its what actually happens
