How do I assign a job to multiple technicians at the same time?

We have a large installation project coming up that requires two technicians on-site simultaneously. Right now it looks like FieldPulse only lets me assign one person per work order. My team can't move forward until we figure this out — we're scheduling 15+ of these multi-tech jobs next month. Is there a way to do this or do I need to create duplicate work orders?

  • Hi Brandon — great question, and one that comes up frequently during implementation. What I typically recommend is understanding the full scope of how FieldPulse handles team-based assignments before you start creating your work orders.

In my experience working with operations teams of your size, there are actually two ways to approach this depending on your reporting needs. The method Sylvia mentioned above works well for straightforward scenarios where you simply need multiple people on-site and don't need to track individual time separately for payroll or job costing purposes.

However, if you need to capture individual clock-in/clock-out times for each technician, or if your installation projects involve different phases where Technician A does setup while Technician B handles configuration, you might want to consider creating the work order and then using subtasks or checklist assignments to track who did what. This gives you cleaner reporting downstream when you're analyzing technician utilization.

For your immediate need — 15+ jobs with two techs working the same window — the multi-assign feature on the work order itself will absolutely handle this. The only caveat I'd add is that if you're using our QuickBooks integration, you'll want to verify how your labor items are mapped so that time entries flow correctly. We've seen cases where teams with complex billing rules need to adjust their service item setup.

Let me know if you want to walk through the reporting implications — happy to schedule time to review your specific workflow.
