hey having an issue with the map view showing tech locations. their dots havent moved in like 20 mins even though i know they're driving between jobs. is this a known thing or do i need to check something on my end. using chrome if that matters. refresh didnt help
one of my guys is already at the second job this morning and the map still shows him at the first location from 8am
Hi Teresa! Great question — this is actually a known issue we're tracking. See this article on Technician Shows as Available When on Leave for related symptoms, and we're seeing similar GPS staleness reports under a related bug.
Here's what's happening and how to work around it:
1. Background app refresh — On iOS especially, the app needs this enabled to push location updates. Have your technicians check Settings > FieldPulse > Background App Refresh. 2. Battery optimization on Android — Some OEMs (Samsung, Pixel) aggressively throttle location services. Check Settings > Battery > App Power Management and exclude FieldPulse. 3. Force a manual sync — Pull down on the mobile schedule view to trigger an immediate location push.
The engineering team has this logged as BUG-2847 with a target fix in 3.4. I'll follow up here when that ships!
in my experience the background refresh thing is a red herring. had this exact problem and it was the phone system killing the app when the screen's off. tell your guys to keep the app open until this gets fixed or youre gonna keep guessing where they are
Pro tip: while you're waiting on the fix, use the Last Updated timestamp on the technician card. If it's >10 mins old, assume the location is stale. We also have our guys tap En Route status manually when moving — updates their location instantly and gives dispatch a heads up.
so basically what happened to us was my phone updated to android 15 and thats when it started. so what i did was go into location permissions and set it to "allow all the time" instead of just when using the app. that fixed it for me but like i dont love having to do that tbh. just figured id mention in case anyone else got the android 15 update recently
