Update job status without internet connection?

Hey so im out in the field rn and cell service is basically nonexistent in this area. Been trying to update a job to "in progress" but the app just spins and nothing happens. Is there a way to mark jobs without wifi? Like does it save locally and sync later or am I stuck until I find signal? Thx
  • Yep, offline mode handles this. Here's what happens: 1. Make sure **offline mode** is enabled in your app settings — it's usually on by default but worth checking 2. When you change a status with no signal, the app saves it locally 3. You'll see a little **pending sync** icon next to the job 4. Once you're back in range, it pushes automatically Pro tip: don't force-close the app while you have pending changes. That can sometimes delay the sync. Also, if you're worried about it going through, you can manually trigger a sync from the menu once you're back on wifi. The one thing it won't do is let you start a *brand new* work order offline — those need connectivity. But status updates on existing jobs? Totally fine.
  • Hi Tyler! Great question — and yes, you're covered here. FieldPulse Mobile App supports offline status updates. Here's exactly how it works:
    1. Offline mode activates automatically when the app detects no connectivity
    2. Your status change is queued locally — you'll see a "pending" indicator
    3. Sync happens automatically when connection returns, or you can manually sync via Menu → Sync Now
For more details, including troubleshooting if sync doesn't complete: Using FieldPulse Offline and Syncing Data When You Reconnect. One heads-up: photos and signatures taken offline will also queue, but they can take longer to upload depending on file size. If you're on a weak connection, the app prioritizes status updates first. Let me know if you don't see the pending indicator after trying this!
  • in my experience the auto-sync doesn't always fire right away when you get back to signal. i've had jobs sit pending for 20+ minutes before i noticed. now i just hit sync manually every time. not a big deal but worth knowing.
  • Hi Art — that's good feedback. If you're seeing delays over 5–10 minutes consistently, that may indicate a sync issue worth investigating. Feel free to open a ticket with your account details and we can look at logs. For most users, auto-sync fires within 30–60 seconds of regaining stable connectivity. Background app refresh settings on iOS and Android can also affect this — Mobile App Battery Optimization Tips has the configuration we recommend.
  • ok sick i see the pending icon now. didnt realize it was automatic tbh. will check those settings too. thx all
